Crescent City Green is the New Orleans building community’s connection to green building, the most important trend in residential construction today.
Green building brings environmental considerations into all phases of the home building process. During the design, construction, and operation of a home, the builder puts extra consideration into energy and water efficiency, lot development and resource efficient building design. Environmentally friendly materials, indoor air quality, and the global impact of the home on the environment are also taken in to consideration. Crescent City Green has plenty of resources for homeowners, home builders, and policy makers.

What is Crescent City Green?
The Crescent City Green (CCG) Building Council is a voluntary green building program offered by the Home Builders Association of Greater New Orleans and affiliated with National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) National Green Building Program. Membership in Crescent City Green is open to members of the HBA of Greater New Orleans. Crescent City Green seeks to provide:
- A rating system for green homes that uses levels established by the NAHB Model Green Home Building Guidelines and National Green Building Standard;
- Third party verification for projects through local project verifiers;
- Educational opportunities for members on green building techniques, products and processes and the NAHB Certified Green Building Professional designation;
- Networking opportunities for members through monthly meetings and special events;
- Promotion and promotional materials to stimulate green building in New Orleans; and
- Local, state and Federal governmental representation for members to encourage incentives and prevent mandates.

Crescent City Green works together with the NAHB National Green Building Program to provide builders and remodelers with a comprehensive set of tools to build and remodel homes in an environmentally friendly way.
